MP3 Strip is the Control Strip Module what lets you playback audio MP3 files. It plays the most popular MPEG Layer 3 audio file format.
Installation
Just drag MP3 Strip onto your Control Strip window or copy it into the Control Strip Modules folder what resides in the System folder. To uninstall MP3 Strip press and hold the Option key and drag MP3 Strip from the Control Strip window to the Trash.
Note: If you use Extensions Strip 2 or later then turn on the “Give idle time to hidden strips” checkbox in the Extensions Strip control panel.

Controls
Select MP3 Disk/Folder
Brings up the Choose dialogue, to select music, disk or folder. Also, you can simply drag disk or folder icon from the Finder to the MP3 Strip window. Selected disk or folder is saved into the preference file for the Quick Load function. The Quick Load function loads playlist without access to the media.
Play/Pause
Starts playing the track, or pauses if it is already playing. When one track is played, MP3 Strip automatically advances to the next track in the playlist.
Skip Track
Advances to the next track. If a track is the last one in the playlist, then MP3 Strip goes to the first one.
Back Track
Advances to the previous track. If a song is the first track in the playlist, MP3 Strip goes to the last track.
Stop
Stops playing the current track.
Eject/Remove/Clear
Ejects the selected disk or removes the folder from the playlist. Clear function delete preference file that contains playlist associated with selected folder or disk. To select Clear option, press and hold the Command key and click on the MP3 Strip icon in the Control Strip window.
Repeat None/Repeat One/Repeat All
Selects repeat mode.
• None - don’t repeat tracks.
• One - repeat one track.
• All - repeat all tracks.
Normal/Random/Intro
Selects play mode.
• Normal - plays tracks continuously.
• Random - plays tracks randomly.
• Intro - plays tracks continuously for 10 seconds.
Actions
Show Controller Only
To show the Controller menu without Albums and Tracks press and hold the Shift key and click on the MP3 Strip icon in the Control Strip window.
Adjusting Volume
To adjust volume, press and hold the Control or Option key and click on the MP3 Strip icon in the Control Strip window.
Selecting Album
To select Album for playback just choose the Album name from a menu.
Selecting Track
To select a track for playback just choose the Track name from a submenu.
Opening Source Disk/Folder
To open the selected disk/folder just select first menu item.
Reveal Album in Finder
To reveal Album location in Finder, select the Album name from a menu with the Command key pressed.
Reveal Track in Finder
To reveal Track location in Finder, select the Track name from a submenu with the Command key pressed.
Audio Search
To positioning within the song while it is being played just push mouse button on the progress line in the MP3 Strip window and move mouse to right (forward search) or left (backard search). Note: Display Track Title option must be on.
Preferences
Sorting order
Selects sorting order for MP3 files.
• By Album - sort files by Album name using description from MP3 file (if available).
• By Artist - sort files by Artist name using description from MP3 file (if available).
• By Folder - sort files by Folder name (names of the Tracks are obtained from the description of the MP3 file, if available).
• By File - sort files by MP3 File name.
Auto-Rescan
Automatically rescan selected folder for new and deleted tracks and update the preference file for the Quick Load function. You can also manually rescan selected folder having cleared the album list (Clear function) and reselect it (Select MP3 Disk/Folder function).
Note: The files may appears in the album list with a delay. It depends upon the number of files in the selected folder, the more files there are, the longer the delay is.
Allow Keyboard Commands
Enable/Disable keyboard commands.
Display Track Title
Displays track title and the Time bar in the Control Strip window.
Customize Keyboard Commands…
Assign keyboard commands for playing Tracks and volume adjustment. By default, keyboard commands are:
Control+Command - ‘8’ - Play/Pause
Control+Command - ‘5’ - Stop the current Track
Control+Command - ‘6’ - Skip to the next Track
Control+Command - ‘4’ - Back to the previous Track
Control+Command - ‘+’ - Volume Up
Control+Command - ‘-’ - Volume Down
Creating custom playlist
To create your own playlist:
1. Create a folder with the name you want (for example: “My Music”)
2. Place file aliases of your fovorite songs in the created folder. Your custom playlist is ready for use.
3. Select the created folder using the Select MP3 Disk/Folder command to play.

• Control Strip Extension version 2.0 or later (part of Mac OS)
